MLS club Charlotte FC have reportedly agreed terms with Dutch outfit Feyenoord to sign winger Calvin Stengs.
The former Nice forward emerged as a top transfer target for the MLS outfit following his stellar debut season with Feyenoord in the Dutch top flight.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Charlotte FC have agreed to pay $8 million for the player. The 8-capped Netherlands international turned a corner away from his career deadlock to score six goals in 29 Eredivisie appearances for Feyenoord. He has played for only one season for the club before the imminent move to MLS.

Calvin Stengs is a Dutch professional footballer who played as a winger for Eredivisie club Feyenoord and the Netherlands national team. The 25-year-old is known for his pace and great shooting skills—traits that made him a top target for Charlotte FC and other clubs.
Calvin Stengs career
Calvin Stengs nursed his football in the Netherlands when he was still a teenager. At the age of 5, he trained at the DIOS Football Academy before moving to Haarlem in 2007.
After two years at Haarlem, he joined AZ Academy in 2009. At AZ Academy, Stengs developed his footballing skills and transitioned into a full-blown soccer star.
He was transferred to the club’s reserve team in 2016, where he made 24 senior club career appearances, scoring 6 goals. A year after the break-in into senior club football, he was promoted to the main team in 2017. Meanwhile, he continued to play for the club’s reserve team until 2019.
In the AZ first team, Stages quickly cemented his place in the squad following a run of impressive performances. He made 78 Eredivisie appearances for the club, scoring 15 goals.
Transfer to Nice and career deadlock
Following a run of impressive performances, Stengs attracted the attention of Ligue 1 club Nice. On July 14, 2021, he was signed by the club for what is believed to be around €10 million on a five-year contract.
Stengs made his debut for Nice in a 4-0 league win over Bordeaux but would struggle for game time at the club. He was subsequently loaned to Belgian side Royal Antwerp.
At Antwerp, Stengs breathed life into his career, making 25 league appearances for the club, and scoring one goal. The impressive loan spell saw him emerge as a top target for Dutch side Feyenoord, who signed him on a four-year contract in 2023.
The move saw the footballer return to his roots in the Netherlands. He recorded a successful debut campaign with the Dutch giants, making 29 Eredivisie appearances, and scoring six goals.
Imminent move to Charlotte FC
