Callum Hudson-Odoi has bid farewell to Bayer Leverkusen as he prepares to exit the club at the end of the season.

The English youngster is one of Chelsea’s homegrown players who fell off the pecking order.

His Chelsea career was mired with injuries. Struggling on the sidelines, Chelsea loaned him to Bayer Leverkusen last summer.

The England international had hoped to breath life into his career with the Bundesliga club but still ended on the fringes.

The 22-year-old will leave Bayer Leverkusen as his season-long loan deal expires at the end of the season.

With Gareth Southgate seeking to regather his England squad ahead of the Euros 2024 qualifiers, Callum Hudson-Odoi’s chances of earning a call-up is slim given his recent struggles.

He was one of the most promising youngsters in the England youth setup. He played for the Young Lions at the U-17, U-18, U-19, and U-21 levels before earning his first call-up with the Three Lions in 2019, making just three appearances for the team.

At the peak of his career, Callum won the U-17 World Cup with England U-17 national team after emerging as runners up in European U-17 championships.

He has won the Champions League, Europa League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup with Chelsea.

Before his loan spell to Bayer Leverkusen this season, Callum Hudson-Odoi made 72 Premier League appearances for Chelsea scoring 4 goals.

He was groomed in the Chelsea academy after joining the club as a 7-year-old teenager in 2007.

After 10 years in Chelsea Academy, Callum made his first senior club appearance for the Blues in 2017 and has went on to win several trophies with the club before his sudden career decline.

With his imminent return from his loan spell at Bayer Leverkusen, his chances of breaking into the Blues lineup is unclear with Mauricio Pochettino set to take over as new manager at the end of the season.

Chelsea are already set to axed off a number of players from the squad in the summer to trim down their overbloated squad size.

Callum confirmed he has not been in contact with Chelsea since joining Bayer Leverkusen on loan. His Chelsea future is still uncertain with reports linking him to move to Arsenal.
