Good news for Ghana football national team as Callum Hudson-Odoi and Eddie Nketiah have decided to dump the Three Lions of England for the west African football team.

The process that will lead Callum Hudson-Odoi and Eddie Nketiah to switch their nationality to Ghana has reached an advanced stage and might be completed anytime soon.

If the process is completed before the end of October 2022, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Eddie Nketiah might represent Ghana in the forthcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Note that Ghana has qualified for the prestigious sports festival after knocking out the Super Eagles of Nigeria on away goals rule.

Callum Hudson-Odoi and Eddie Nketiah are among the many talented football stars that have been waiting for coach Gareth Southgate to invite them to the national team but the coach has not been able to do so due to the high number of players in his possession.

Note that Callum Hudson-Odoi, a product of Chelsea football academy and Chelsea’s winger has played for England’s under-16, under-17, under-18, under-19, and under-21 teams. He waited until March 22, 2019, before his debut for the Three Lions of England.

Hudson-Odoi has made three appearances for England’s senior team in the 2020 Euro qualification but that was not enough to stop him from switching his nationality since he is still 21-year-old.

Reports claimed Hudson-Odoi has been pushing to play more regularly for the Three Lions of England but coach Gareth Southgate wanted him to play with England’s under-23, advice the Chelsea winger is not willing to accept.

    Eddie Nketiah

As for Eddie Nketiah, the 22-year-old striker is a product of Arsenal football academy. The striker has been waiting for coach Gareth Southgate to invite him into the Three Lions of England squad since 2018 but the coach has not deemed him fit.

Note that Nketiah has played for England’s under-18, under-19, under-20, and under-21 teams. Unlike Hudson-Odoi who has played for England’s senior team on three different occasions, Nketiah is yet to taste international football.

Hence, he has decided to dump his country of birth for his country of origin to have the opportunity of playing international football in his early 20s.

A report by football.london confirmed that Hudson-Odoi and Eddie Nketiah have both received Ghanaian passports which means that they are fully eligible to play for the Black Stars of Ghana.

However, Futballnews gathered that FIFA is yet to complete their paper works. Hudson-Odoi and Eddie Nketiah’s nationality switch can only be valid in football when FIFA completes the ongoing paper works.

Why the pending addition of Callum Hudson-Odoi and Eddie Nketiah is a big plus to Ghana?

As for Eddie Nketiah, the 22-year-old striker whose contract with Arsenal will expire on June 30, 2022, has scored 9 goals and provided an assist in 25 games for Arsenal this season.
