The international player for England has a contract with Arsenal that will expire in less than two years, and negotiations to extend the deal are in an advanced stage.

Following increased interest from rival clubs, particularly Manchester City, Sportsmail reported last week that Arsenal will quicken contract negotiations. And it is said that the Gunners have now formally offered Saka a contract extension that is at least twice as lucrative as his current £70,000 per week deal.

There is currently no agreement, and it is unknown how Saka will formally react to the offer. However, there is optimism in the Emirates that an agreement may be reached to guarantee Saka’s future and lock in his £100million transfer value.

The top earners on Arsenal’s payroll are midfielder Thomas Partey and recent arrival Gabriel Jesus, both of whom make around £200,000 per week.

However, the contract Saka has been offered will bring his weekly salary close to that amount. Saka’s ranking as one of the best future stars in European football is evidenced by the fact that the Gunners are willing to make a 20-year-old one of their highest earners.

The Gunners will experience a huge boost from Saka’s contract extension as there is growing anxiety about the 20-year-old long-term future behind the scenes.

Saka is seen as Manchester City’s ideal replacement for Raheem Sterling, who moved to Chelsea this summer.

Saka’s desire to compete in the Champions League has made Arsenal’s attempt to negotiate a new contract with their academy graduate unlikely because of the club’s inability to finish in the top four last year.

However, the additions of Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko, and Fabio Viera should make Arsenal strong candidates for Champions League qualification in the upcoming season. But it’s unclear if it will be enough to persuade Saka that he can achieve his ambitions at Arsenal. The two new players from Manchester City – Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko are expected to bring the winning mentality to Mikel Arteta’s team.

Both players have won the English Premier League four times plus other domestic trophies during their time at Man City. Arsenal is currently having one of the best performances on the pre-season tour as they have not lost a game. Their recent form in their preseason games has made the north London club one of the favorites to win the English Premier League title next season and even challenge for other trophies.
