Bruno Guimaraes of Newcastle has admitted that playing against Manchester City is horrible because Pep Guardiola’s side makes other teams look like children.

The Newcastle United midfielder had a pleasant campaign in the English Premier League last season, but the 25-year-old has pointed out how miserable he is with one aspect of life in the English top flight.

The Brazilian’s presence on the field has been a breath of fresh air for the home supporters at St. James’ Park, and the combination of his inexhaustible energy and excitement with his passionate drive to win football matches has won him the support of the locals.

Bruno Guimaraes was quick to pinpoint the most difficult Premier League club he played against during the last season.

Speaking to reporters, Guimaraes commented that there’s one team above all other clubs that he completely dislikes playing against.

The Brazilian was asked about the impact he has made on the Premier League and his impressions of its top sides.

The 25-year-old former Olympique Lyon acknowledges that it feels like Children against professionals when facing Pep Guardiola’s team.

Bruno Guimaraes of Newcastle, whose club finished fourth last season and thus qualified for the Champions League, had high comments for the Cityzens.

The Brazilian international said: “We know that Manchester City is a step above all teams in England, with all due respect. It’s the worst game when we play there, I hate it. It feels like we’re all children and there are professionals. It’s horrible.

“It feels like they’re playing with 15 players, and we’re playing with seven. You look and say, Wow, there are so many blue guys, it’s unbelievable. And they’re all crazy good. Sometimes we talk, and the coach asks, press the right side, the left side”.

He added; “Against Manchester City, how do you play? You go out there and let them score right away, it’s very difficult, there are so many good players”.

However, the former Club Athletico Paranaense still recognizes his club can end their 54 years of wait for a trophy.

    What happened?

City’s incredible season at the Etihad Stadium last year resulted in a Treble victory. For the sixth time in six years, Guardiola’s squad has won the Premier League after beating Arsenal to it.

City won the legendary FA Cup trophy with a 2-1 triumph over archrivals Manchester United at Wembley. After beating Inter Milan 1-0 in Istanbul, Pep Guardiola’s City became the first team to win the Champions League for the club. They matched United’s 1999 treble-winning season.

Since Guardiola took over, City has become unstoppable in English football. In the last six years, only Liverpool have won the league aside from City.

Last season’s first-leg match against Newcastle ended in a 3-3 tie at St. James’ Park. In the second leg held at City’s home stadium at the start of March, the Citizens prevailed by a score of 2-0.

And Newcastle player Bruno has said that playing Guardiola’s City is like playing against “professionals” because of how good they are. He expects City to have a significant personnel advantage over whichever team they face.

However, Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Chelsea will join the Magpies next season in trying to dethrone City’s stranglehold on the top-flight.

Guimaraes won’t be the only one asking how on earth anyone can stop Man City when they’re in their best, because very few clubs can keep up with them.

Bruno, who was signed from Lyon for £42 million in January 2022, says he was scared to transfer but ultimately couldn’t refuse the deal since his dream was to play in the Premier League.

Very quickly, he adjusted, and he now adores everything about Newcastle, from Alan Shearer to the chubby Geordie supporters that follow their club everywhere.

Toon executives are convinced that their midfield savant will be at the helm for the next five years, and therefore they are working on a new long-term contract for him.

His sense of pride in himself won’t let him give up any contest easily, and it’s just one of many unique attributes that have made him a hit on Tyneside from the start.

Bruno Guimaraes’ stats with Newcastle United last season

The 1.82 m height midfielder represented the Magpies 39 times in all competitions, scoring 4 goals and registering 4 assists.

    What’s next for Bruno Guimaraes?

The Brazilian midfielder will feature for Newcastle United in the pre-season tour before the 2023/2024 Premier League season kick-off.
