The wife of Bruno Fernandes who goes by the name Ana Pinho, has shared a picture of the Portuguese attacker with a protective boot and crutches.
The image, posted on Ana’s instagram account came 24 hours after Fernandes was substituted during Manchester United’s FA Cup Semi-final triumph over Brighton.
Bruno Fernandes injured his ankle during the first 45 minutes of the make or break clash at Wembley Stadium on Sunday evening.
Fernandes still remained active on the pitch till the first minute of extra-time
The 28-year-old played on till the 101st minute, before being substituted for on-loan Dutch forward Wout Weghorst.
Based on reports from ESPN, Erik Ten Hag thought about substituting Bruno Fernandes during the time the incident happened and at half-time. But the former Sporting Lisbon midfielder was keen on remaining on the pitch.
The injury created worries for Manchester United supporters over fears that he could be unavailable for Thursday night’s visit to Tottenham Hotspur.
And Ana Pinho’s post on Instagram has done nothing to reduce the concern.
In the picture, the Portuguese can be seen lying on the sofa with his right foot raised while putting on ankle support.
On the carpet next to the sofa can be seen two crutches alongside a protective boot.
Ana Pinho captioned the post with: “Recharging.”
Bruno Fernandes appeared to be limping as he exited Wembley on Sunday night, after Manchester United’s penalty shoot-out victory.
But at that point in time he had not been handed a protective boot and crutches.
Fernandes is now set to be unavailable for Thursday night’s visit to Spurs in an important encounter for a place in the top four of the Premier League.
The Portuguese maestro might also be a doubt for next Sunday’s home encounter with Unai Emery’s Aston Villa at Old Trafford.
Head coach Erik Ten Hag already has injury issues with Lisandro Martinez out for the remainder of the campaign and fellow centre-back partner Raphael Varane is also injured.
Bruno Fernandes has started almost all United games this campaign
The former Sampdoria midfielder has started all but four of Manchester United’s games this campaign and he was not present for last Thursday’s embarrassing 3-0 Europa League loss against Sevilla.
Bruno Fernandes has been an integral player for Manchester United since he arrived at the club in January 2020 from Sporting Lisbon.
He penned a new four-year deal with Manchester United in April 2022 and that would see him stay at the club until the summer of 2026.
The former Udinese man currently earns £240,000 per week at Manchester United and he is one of the highest earners in the team.
Bruno Fernandes has scored 60 goals and provided 52 assists in 176 appearances for Manchester United since he joined the English club in 2020.
He has scored 10 goals and provided 13 assists in 49 appearances for Manchester United across all competitions this term.
