Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was filled with praise for his 2020 winter signing, Bruno Fernandes who scored two goals in United’s 4-0 win over Real Sociedad on Thursday, February 18. He noted that the Portuguese star sometimes drives his teammates ‘too much’ during games.

Manchester United traveled to Turin in Italy to play the first leg of the Europa League round of 32 and the Premier League club defeated the Spanish side 4-0. The game was supposed to take place in Spain but had to be moved to Italy due to the coronavirus restriction in Spain.

During the one-sided game, it became a Bruno Fernandes’ show as the Portuguese attacking midfielder scored the first two goals of the game. He scored the first goal in the 27th minute and scored the second in the 57th minute.

In the 64th minute of the game, United’s forward Marcus Rashford made it three for the Premier League club. While Daniel James made it four for United in the 90th minute.

After the game, the coach of Manchester United, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admitted that a player like Bruno Fernandes always want to do more for the team. He noted that the 26-year-old Portuguese attacking midfielder drives everyone on the team.

While stating how Bruno Fernandes likes to improve on anything good he has done, Solskjaer said the Portuguese star who joined United from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020 never likes to rest on his laurels.

“He always wants to do the next thing correctly,” Solskjaer said of Fernandes. “He wants to do the next thing at the best of his ability and that’s a good attribute and quality to have that he never rests on his laurels.

“If he scores two, he wants three. If he has an assist, he wants another one. He drives everyone on.

“Of course sometimes he drives too much and he wants to do too much. I thought tonight he played his position well, we were in the spaces we wanted him and you can see how efficient he is.”

So far this season, Bruno Fernandes has scored 14 Premier League goals and provided 10 assists in 24 league games. He has scored 21 goals and provided 12 assists in 36 games in all competitions this season.

On Manchester United’s 4-0 win over Real Sociedad, Solskjaer said his club played well and were more clinical in front of goal despite losing a couple of goalscoring opportunities.

“We played well,” the coach said. “We were more clinical in front of goal, of course, even though we had a few chances before we got the first one.

“But definitely when we got the second, the game opened up and we found ourselves in loads of space.”

Manchester United’s next line of action is to play Newcastle United in the Premier League on Sunday, February 21 at 20:00. A win in the game will keep United in the second spot on the league table, 7 points closer to first-placed Manchester City if Arsenal defeat City on Sunday.
