Brighton Thrash Wolves 4-1 To Go Top Of The Premier League Table

Solly March’s resounding double helped Roberto De Zerbi’s side overcome host Wolves as they start life without Moises Caicedo in style.

The visitors went into the half in the lead with Kaoru Mitoma’s stunning individual strike before adding to the lead from Pervis Estupinan’s close-range finish.

However, Brighton, within the space of five minutes, ended the game as Solly March scored twice in a quick succession with simple tap-ins after eye-catching Seagulls’ breaks.

The hosts – Wolves – managed to pull one back for a consolation, thanks to Hee-Chan Hwang’s header just past the hour-mark.

To make matters worse for the host team, key forward Matheus Nunes was sent off in stoppage time after picking up a second yellow card.

The player made a needless push on a Brighton defender on the byline as frustrations boiled over.

This win has seen the Seagulls move to the top of the Premier League table, having won their opening two games by an aggregate score of 8-2.

Wolves on the other hand are seated at the bottom of the table after two straight defeats.

Brighton – Top Of The Premier League Table

Saturday’s match was Brighton’s first since they sold midfielder Caicedo to Chelsea for a British-record transfer fee, and it didn’t show anything amiss.

Mitoma opened the scoring after 15 minutes with a goal-of-the-season contender already, passing two Wolves defenders before gliding into the area and cooly side-footing past Jose Sa.

Wolves were unfortunate not to go in level at the break as they continued their wayward finishing from their unlucky 1-0 loss at Man Utd on Monday Night Football.

The home team were made to pay for their missed chances as Brighton scored three times in the opening 10 minutes of the second period.

Estupinan doubled the visitors’ lead right from the start of the second half after Wolves’ keeper Sa pushed aside Danny Welbeck’s shot from the edge of the box, but straight to Mitoma, who passed to Estupinan to finish it off.

The game however turned to Solly March’s show as the midfielder scored twice from swift Brighton counterattacks by converting enticing Julio Enciso’s assists to give the scoreline a slightly flattering nature.

Gary O’Neil’s men finally got off the mark for the season through Hwang’s looping far-post header but Nunes worsened the day by receiving a second yellow card, and then red.
