    Players from Shakhtar Donetsk and Dynamo Kyiv can be seen in a video that has been circulating on social media. They are waiting for help in a hotel in Ukraine’s capital city.

    The video, which was shared on Twitter by journalist Arthur Quezada, shows the group of Brazilian players making an urgent appeal to their home country’s authorities to rescue them from Ukraine.

    Junior Moraes, 34, of Shakhtar, also posted a message on Instagram, saying, “The situation is hopeless.” I’m requesting that you make this video public so that it reaches the [Brazilian] government.

    “The borders have been closed, the banks have been closed, there is no fuel, there will be a food shortage, and there is no money.”

    “Dear friends and family, the situation is grave and we are trapped in Kyiv awaiting a way out. We are located within a hotel. Please pray for us.

    “We have gathered to await the announcement of a plan to exit Ukraine.”

    Shakhtar’s squad features 12 Brazilian players, one of whom is David Neres, who joined from Dutch club Ajax last month.

    Dodo, Vitao, Marlon, Ismaily, and Vinicius Tobias are the other Brazilians in Shakhtar’s squad, as are Maycon, Marcos Antonio, Tete, Alan Patrick, Pedrinho, and Fernando.
