South American giants Brazil have named their final 26-man squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The list, which was confirmed by a top and renowned sports journalist Bruno Andrade, comprises key names and top Brazilian football stars playing in major football leagues across Europe.
As expected, there are surprised exclusions from the list with two of Arsenal’s three Gabriel’s missing out on the list.
Gabriel Magalhaes, who has bagged both goals and assists for the Gunners this season, is top on the list of names that are missing from the squad.
Magalhaes has been in the form of his life for Arsenal this season. His goal against Chelsea in Arsenal’s last Premier League clash was what made the difference, helping the Gunners return to the summit of the Premier League table.
Despite a superb run of form for the Mikel Arteta-led squad, Gabriel Magalhaes could not make Scolari’s World Cup. The likes of Thiago Silva and other top defenders won a pride of place in the Brazils squad ahead of the Arsenal star.
Another Arsenal top player excluded from the squad is Gabriel Martinelli. Gabriel Martinelli has netted five times this season for Arsenal.
He scored in Arsenal’s clash against Liverpool and has been prolific for the Gunners this season.
However, Martinelli still remains on the peripheries of the Brazil national team, with top midfielder Vinicius Junior getting the nod of Scolari ahead of him.
