American boxing legend, Floyd Money Mayweather has revealed his interest in buying English club, Newscastle United following a fall out between the owner of the club Mike Ashley and one its former manager, Kevin Keegan. The fans of the club have been quite keen on getting a new owner for the club since the outrage in 2008, and now it seems luck is about to smile on them as Floyd Mayweather declares his interest in owning the club.
Mike Ashley made some wrong choices in 2008 after he decided to part ways with the club’s manager, Kevin Keegan and went on to rename the club’s St James’ Park stadium after his sports retail company, oversaw two relegations and made a number of unpopular appointments. Right now, the owner of the Toon club is currently on the run to move on after there was a rumor that there is a potential rival takeover interest fading, Floyd Mayweather has decided to step in and save the club from a mess.
Floyd Money Mayweather as he’s fondly called is an American lightweight boxer. He prides himself among others with a boast of fifty wins 50-0 and zero loss all through his career. Critics opined that the undefeated boxer has made a whopping sum of about $1b in his career. The last time he showed in the ring was in 2017 when he came out of retirement to fight against UFC champion McGregor which went in favor of the black American boxer. Mayweather has hinted that he is likely to show in the ring again this year with a rematch against McGregor.
Floyd Mayweather revealed his interest in the English club during his appearance at a promotional event in England. Meanwhile, before now, the boxer has been linked to own shares in Newscastle United. When he was asked if he will like to buy the club, he said: “In the US, we call it soccer, but the Newcastle football team is an unbelievable team, a hell of a team.”
“If the people want me to buy the Newcastle team, let me know.”
Newscastle is posed to worth about £300M, not even up to the amount the American boxer makes from one fight.
