Borussia Dortmund Name Nuri Sahin As The New Head Coach Of The Club

Borussia Dortmund have named the former Turkish international Nuri Sahin as the new head coach after Edin Terzic resigned from the managerial post at the club.

Nuri Sahin, who was previously the assistant manager of the club, signed a three-year contract as the new boss of the 2023–24 Champions League finalists.

Terzic, who led the club to the 2023–24 Champions League final, declared it was time for the club to start a new era. The new era is expected to commence with Nuri Sahin, who was formerly a player for the football club.

Upon Nuri Sahin’s appointment, he said, “It is a great honour for me to be head coach of Borussia Dortmund.”

“I would like to thank everyone in the club’s senior management team for the faith they have shown in me, and I am hugely looking forward to my new role at BVB. From day one, we will do everything we can and work with energy and passion to make this club as successful as possible.”

The former Turkish player played 274 matches for the Bundesliga giant. He won the Bundesliga title with Borussia Dortmund under Jurgen Klopp.

Nuri Sahin started his career at the age of six for RSV Meinerzhagen. He proceeded to join Borussia Dortmund in 2001. On August 6, 2005, he made his debut for the Borussia Dortmund team. 

On July 5, 2007, Sahin was transferred to Feyenoord on a one-year loan agreement. On May 9, 2011, Sahin joined Real Madrid for a transfer fee worth €10 million.

On August 25, 2012, Sahin joined Liverpool on a long-term loan. On September 2, 2012, Sahin made his debut for Liverpool against Arsenal.

On January 14, 2013, Sahin returned to Borussia Dortmund on a long-term loan after Liverpool decided against signing the player on a permanent deal from Real Madrid.

Out of the 38 goals scored, 26 were for Borussia Dortmund, one for Werder Bremen, six for Feyenoord, three for Liverpool, one for Real Madrid, and one for Borussia Dortmund III.

He made his international debut for Turkey on October 8, 2005. He proceeded to score two goals in 52 appearances for the country.
