Manchester City and Portugal midfielder, Bernardo Silva has refused to say if he would join Barcelona when the transfer window opens.

The Portuguese came to the Etihad from Monaco in 2017 and has been a soldier for the Pep Guardiola squad. However, he was pushing for a move out of Man City in 2021 because he was not with his family. According to Silva, he was feeling lonely in England and wanted to unite with his family in Spain.

He said in March that the distance between him and his family is affecting his form. He said; “I had a talk with the club because I wasn’t happy with my life here, and I wanted to be closer to my family. But [wanting to leave] had nothing to do with the club. I love Manchester City. I love my teammates, I love the fans,”.

Bernardo Silva added that his next decision will be discussed with the Manchester City board: “At the end of the season, I’m going to sit down with City and see what’s best for both sides.”

Bernardo Silva’s form improved during the 2021/22 season and played a major part in Manchester City’s Premier triumph. Silva’s form got him into the last season’s PFA Team of the Season.

The 27-year-old Portuguese has recorded two assists in the current Nations League competition for Portugal. These two assists came in their last game with the Czech Republic and one was scored by his Manchester City teammate, Joao Cancelo.

Portugal went further to win the game 2-0 and that has kept them very much in the competition. After the game, an interviewer asked Bernardo Silva about his current contract at Manchester City and the rumors linking him to Barcelona. Silva didn’t give a direct answer but his answer left the situation open.

He said he would want to sit down with the Manchester City board to talk about his future at the club. But according to him, that will happen after the international games are over. “When the season ends, we’ll see what happens”, he said.

The manager at Man City, Pep Guardiola is aware of the news about Bernardo Silva and Barcelona. Pep said that it would be hard to let Silva leave because he needs him next season.
