What Happened To Mendy?
Benjamin Mendy was accused of rape and attempted rape together with Louis Saha Matturie, 41, an alleged “fixer”, but was found not guilty by the jury of three counts of rape relating to two teenagers.
He was later set to face a separate trial later in the year after he pleaded not guilty in the January trials. He was later cleared of all charges.
The prosecution had accused Mendy of being a sexual “predator” who raped or sexually assaulted young women procured by Matturie at parties at his luxury home in south of Manchester.
Benjamin Mendy however denied ever forcing any woman into sex and both said any sexual activity they had with women was consensual.
Mendy was suspended by Manchester City – which he joined from French club Monaco in 2017 – after the allegations were made.
The former Monaco defender has not played since August 15, 2021 — days before he was hit with an initial charge of four counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.
