The police said in a statement that Benjamin Mendy is facing four counts of rape and one of sexual assault. The French international committed the crimes between October 2020 and August 2021.

It was reported that Mendy was accused of three counts of rape in October, he sexually assaulted a woman in January 2021, and allegedly raped a woman in August 2021.

Aside from that, the Manchester City star will face trial for breaching his bail condition which could be the reason he is still being remanded in police custody.

Also, reports claimed that one of the victims that accused Benjamin Mendy is under 18-year-old and none of the victims are below age 16.

When he arrived in the court earlier today, August 27, the football star reportedly dressed in a red hoodie and did not have to speak much during the hearing.

Benjamin Mendy did not have to enter any plea throughout the hearing. Afterward, Cheshire Constabulary drove him back to their custody.

Reports say his defendants are working on securing his bail while the investigation continues.

Manchester City have announced that the French defender has been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation against him.

Benjamin Mendy has been a player of Manchester City since 2017 after he secured a move from Monaco for £52 million. Since then, he has made 75 appearances in all competitions in which he scored two goals and provided 12 assists.
