Bayern Munich have the record of the longest consecutive league title wins in the history of European club football. They achieved this feat after beating their arch-rivals Borussia Dortmund 3-1 to seal their 32nd Bundesliga title.

On Saturday, April 23, 2022, Borussia Dortmund visited Bayern Munich for the 31st league game of the 2021-2022 season. All Bayern needed to do was to beat Dortmund and confirm their league title for the season.

As expected, Bayern Munich defeated Borussia Dortmund 3-1 courtesy of goals from Serge Gnabry, Robert Lewandowski, and Jamal Musiala. Dortmund’s consolation goal was scored by Emre Can in the 52nd minute of the game.

The 3-1 win left Bayern on the first spot on the league table with 75 points in 31 games, 12 points above Borussia Dortmund with three league games to the end of the season.

Since it was clear that Dortmund can no longer overtake Bayern even if Bayern lose all their remaining league games, coach Julian Nagelsmann and his boys were confirmed champions of the Bundesliga for the 10th consecutive time this season.

As it stands, there is no club in the history of European club football that has ever won the league title 10 consecutive times which makes Bayern Munich the first and only club to ever achieve such a feat in mainstream Europe. Bayern have been the sole winner of the Bundesliga since 2013 to date.

Based on the situation in all the five major leagues in Europe – Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Ligue 1, and Bundesliga, no club is anywhere close to Bayern’s consecutive league title wins record.
