Lewandowski has been open about his desire to leave the German champions this summer with Barcelona being his favorite destination. But Bayern Munich are yet to accept any offer from Barcelona or any other club because they don’t want him to leave the club.

Spanish giants Barcelona have submitted an improved offer for Lewandowski which is around €35 million plus €5m in add-ons, but Bayern are reluctant to accept the offer.

Speaking about the situation with Sky Sports Deutschland, Bayern Munich director revealed that the German giants are ready to keep the player until next season when his contract expires.

“So far it’s 100% [certain that he stays],” Bayern Munich director said. “July 12 is his first day at work, so I’m expecting him.

“I’m not dealing with it now because we’ve had other things to do. I think it’s calmed down a little now, but we still have a lot to do.

He added: “I think we had a very good conversation [with Lewandowski’s agent]. It’s true, I was there. Oliver Kahn was there too, we talked, each side explained their position, but we also talked about the details which I won’t reveal. But it was a good conversation. I’m convinced [Lewandowski will stay]. He’s a professional and he has big goals in his career. That’s why it’s fixable.”

Salihamidzic was then asked if Bayern Munich would allow Lewandowski to go if a reasonable offer comes. “I don’t know,” he answered. “I never deal with things that are in the air right now. I can only repeat: He has an employment contract until 2023. July 12, welcome to Munich. He will be there for the first training session – at least, I expect him to be.”

English Premier League giants Chelsea are also interested in securing the services of Robert Lewandowski but Barcelona are in pole position to land the striker.

The Bayern Munich director also reacted to Serge Gnabry’s contract expiration by telling the winger to make a quick decision about it. “I’m really clear about that, he’s a great boy,” he said.

“We really want to keep him. We would love to extend him. I think we have shown him the necessary appreciation. I hope that he decides to stay. We will intensify the talks over the next few weeks.

“But if a player does not want to choose the club, then it is only fair to tell the club so that a solution can be found for everyone involved that satisfies everyone.”
