Thomas Tuchel was appointed Bayern Munich manager after former manager Julian Nagelsmann was given marching orders during the international break.

The former Chelsea manager was reportedly contacted for the job days before Julian Nagelsmann was sacked in a dramatic final episode of his Bayern Munich reign.

According to reports, Bayern Munich are eyeing Mason Mount as a summer transfer target for the club with Thomas believed to be the brain behind the move.

Tuchel angered Chelsea’s hierarchy after his tongue-in-cheek call for Bayern Munich to poach Chelsea’s highly-rated coaching staff Anthony Barry to join him at Allianz Arena.

The former PSG manager wanted to have Anthony Barry as his backroom staff at Bayern Munich – a move Chelsea deemed disrespectful, and should have been discussed indoors.

Now, the club is eyeing a move for Mason Mount in another attempt to draft the Chelsea player to work with Thomas Tuchel at Allianz Arena.

During Thomas Tuchel’s stint with the Blues as manager, Mason Mount was a regular starter for the German tactician.

Mount will definitely be one of Thomas Tuchel’s preferred choices in the Bavarians’ lineup if a move happens.

Meanwhile, the England international has been at loggerheads with Chelsea over attempts to renew his contract. Mason Mount reportedly declined to accept Chelsea’s new contract extension proposal, demanding increased wages.

His contract at the Blues expires at the end of next season, and his long-term future at the club has been uncertain.

Chelsea reportedly made a proposal of £200,000 weekly offer for Mason Mount but the Three Lions star reportedly asked for a £300,000 weekly wage – the same amount earned by former Manchester City and England star Raheem Sterling who joined the club in August.

As things stand, Mason Mount and Chelsea are yet to thrash out their differences on the contract renewal talks and Bayern Munich are closely monitoring the situation at Stamford Bridge.

The Times reports, the Bavarians are hoping to wade into the contract renewal deadlock and launch a move for the player in the summer.

Bayern Munich are not the only club monitoring contract renewal proceedings between Chelsea and Mount, Manchester United and Liverpool are also interested in the player and are plotting a move for the 24-year-old.

However, if any deal is to happen, Mount is more likely to join his former boss at Bayern Munich than Chelsea’s domestic rivals.
