Bayern Munich Chief Executive Officer Oliver Kahn has debunked reports that Cristiano Ronaldo is interested in joining the team, claiming that the Portugal star player does not align with their philosophies.
The future of Cristiano Ronaldo has attracted attention after it was revealed that the five times Ballon d’Or winner told his agent Mendes to search for a new team.
The 34-year-old returned to Manchester United in the summer of 2021 to much excitement, and he proved his case by finishing the campaign as the team’s top goal scorer with 24 goals.
However, Ronaldo’s decision to quit Manchester United was affected by both their poor start in the current summer transfer window and their inability to qualify for the Champions League. The Portugal hitman who has won the UEFA Champions League title five times wants to continue competing in the competition in his remaining years.
Ronaldo is open to leaving Old Trafford in search of a fresh challenge despite having a contract that runs until 2023. However, there are not many teams in the market that can sign him now because of the amount of wages to be paid. But teams like Chelsea and Bayern Munich have been recently linked with the Portugal player.

Bayern Munich are reportedly expected to swap out Robert Lewandowski for Ronaldo as the striker from Poland is eager to sign with Barcelona. Ronaldo would be a perfect replacement for Lewandowski because of their amazing goal-scoring abilities, but Oliver Kahn, the CEO of Bayern Munich, has quickly ruled that out.
The former German captain, as quoted by Bavarian Football Works, claimed that Ronaldo did not adhere to the club’s guiding principles. Kahn said, “As much as I appreciate Cristiano Ronaldo as one of the greatest, a move would not fit into our philosophy.”
Other sources have reported that Cristiano Ronaldo could be heading to Napoli in Italy after the club reached out to his agent. But no deal has been agreed upon for the 34-year-old even though his agent is still speaking with clubs across Europe.
The Portugal star has failed to report to training for four straight days and is likely to miss out on Man United’s pre-season games this summer.
Meanwhile, former Chelsea star Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has urged Manchester United to let Ronaldo leave the club. According to him, keeping an unhappy player is a big mistake and Ronaldo is a player that needs to play in the UEFA Champions League.
