The German giant managed to convert their clear chances in the encounter despite Barcelona having most of the shots, passes, and possession in the match.

After a mediocre showing in the first half, Bayern Munich came out firing.

The German powerhouse took the lead after only five minutes thanks to strikes from Leroy Sane and Hernandez, who headed the first goal off a Kimmich corner.

Bayern had already grabbed a 2-0 lead before the 55th minute of the game and in-form Barca could not do anything to effectively react until the end of the match.

With both sides coming off victories in their first games of this season’s Champions League campaign, Robert Lewandowski returned to Germany to play against his former club, Bayern Munich.

In his first six games with the Catalan club, Lewandowski scored nine goals, including a hat trick in a 5-1 victory over Viktoria Plzen in their Champions League debut.

So far this season, the Polish striker has been in charge of Barcelona’s potent attack, which has recorded over 20 goals in six games across all competitions.

In the match against his former Club, the Poland international was completely harmless and also missed a very vital goal to secure what would have been a consolation goal for Barca.

At the Allianz Arena, Robert Lewandowski recorded a greater xG (0.54-0.32) and more shots (5-4) than the entire Bayern team combined.

A return goal was the only thing that was lacking.

Mane appeared to be a little underwhelmed with his performance in the game, but the entire crowd at Allianz Arena enthusiastically applauded him when he was substituted in the 69th minute.

The overall score of all the matches played between Barca and Bayern in the last three seasons is an astounding 16-2 to Bayern Munich’s advantage.

In their last four encounters, the La Liga team has failed to defeat the Bavarians, and they were still unable to avenge their earlier double in the group stages of the previous campaign.

After tonight’s goal, Leroy Sane’s tally of Champions League goals equaled that of former Brazil and Barcelona player Ronaldinho (18 goals each).

Lucas Hernandez and Leroy Sane both scored once each in quick succession to give Nagelsmann’s team a comfortable victory over Barcelona.

Gavi had the most opportunities in a full game for Barcelona in all competitions with four in the first half against Bayern.

In the last 30 shots on target, Barcelona has faced against Bayern Munich in the Champions League, they have allowed 16 goals (in four games).

Bayern has now defeated Barcelona in the Champions League nine times, more than any other UCL team.

Sane and Hernandez’s goals give Bayern Munich a crucial three points over Group C foe Barcelona.

Bayern has won 27 of their previous 30 Champions League group stage contests while drawing three of them.
