Kevin Durant Invests In Paris Saint Germain

Boardroom, the media and entertainment brand co-founded by Durant, confirmed the Basketball star’s investment into PSG via a post shared on social media on Monday, August 12, 2024.

The post on social media included a statement which reads: “2x NBA Champion Kevin Durant has invested in Paris Saint-Germain through his Boardroom Sports Holdings, LLC via Arctos Partners, the strategic minority investor in the club.”

Last week, Kevin Durant visited the Parisian club, and the presence of the American athlete at the side was made known through a video posted across their social media accounts on August 10, 2024.

Durant was seen touring the French side’s facility and having a swell time meeting with individuals associated with Paris Saint Germain.

Durant met with the president of Paris Saint Germain, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, during his tour at the club and it appears it was during the meeting that they rubbed minds over the deal.

Moreover, Kevin Durant’s investment firm Boardroom bought a “single digit millions” shareholding of Paris Saint Germain through another financial vehicle known as Arctos Sports Partners.

United States private equity group Arctos Partners, had previously purchased a 12.5% stake in the Parc Des Princes side in December 2023.

American Athletes Pumping Money Into European Football

The 35-year-old becomes the latest in a sprawling list of American athletes that have purchased ownership stakes in European clubs.

Basketball great LeBron James owns a minority stake of Liverpool F.C, having acquired a 2% share in the Merseyside-based club for around $6.5 million in April 2011.

Additionally, former NFL stars J.J. Watt and Tom Brady also have minority stakes in Burnley F.C and Birmingham City F.C respectively.

J.J Watt became co-owner of the Clarets in May 2023, while Brady purchased a minority stake in Birmingham City in August 2023.
