Barcelona’s promising young talent Lamine Yamal has committed his future to the club by signing a new contract.
The contract extension agreement, which was finalized today, October 2nd at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, will see Yamal remain with Barcelona until the summer of 2026.
According to the club’s report this afternoon, the contract includes a buyout clause of €1 billion.
16-year-old Yamal, who joined Barcelona at the age of seven from CF La Torreta, is thrilled to continue his development at the club he has called home since boyhood.
At the contract signing event, Barcelona president Joan Laporta, first vice-president Rafa Yuste, youth football director Joan Soler, and director of sport Anderson Luis de Souza “Deco” were all in attendance.
Yamal, who is regarded as one of the most thrilling young talents in the game of football, burst onto the first-team scene near the end of the last season and has since made remarkable progress.
At the age of 16, Yamal became eligible to sign his inaugural professional contract and has decided to commit his future to Barca by agreeing to a contract extension.
Although Yamal’s new deal extends until 2026, it has been reported that there is already a plan in place to extend his contract until 2030 once he reaches 18 years old.
Lamine Yamal’s career and rise to stardom
Lamine Yamal has swiftly climbed the ranks within the youth system and is widely recognized as one of the most promising prospects to emerge from La Masia in recent times.
When he made his league debut against Betis on April 29, 2023, he was a mere 15 years, 9 months, and 16 days old, making him the youngest player ever to feature in a competitive match for the team.
Yamal’s potential has been steadily increasing and his involvement in the Barcelona team under the supervision of Xavi Hernández has been impressive.
He recently made history by becoming the youngest starter ever for the team in a game against Cadiz this season, and he also became the second youngest player to ever appear in the UEFA Champions League when he played against Royal Antwerp.
Despite his young age, he has already earned his first international cap for Spain.
Not only did he become the youngest player to ever play for ‘La Roja’ in a match against Georgia, he also became the youngest goalscorer.
With his contract extension, Yamal will be eagerly anticipating more playing time in the upcoming weeks as he continues to establish himself as one of the most promising talents in the world of football.
