Barcelona confirmed the addition of Franck Kessie and Andreas Christiansen to their team, but they have yet to be registered.

Barcelona too broke to register Christensen and Kessie.

Barca’s recent financial difficulties have been well-documented, and the team is frantically trying to reduce its pay cost to the limit set by the league.

With Manchester United hoping to recruit the midfielder, they are willing to allow Frenkie de Jong to depart the club against his desires because of their desperate need for cash.

The specifics of the former Ajax star’s compensation show why they are trying to offload him this summer, especially given that they are still attempting to sign some top players during the transfer season.

After their contracts at AC Milan and Chelsea, respectively, expired, the club announced the landing of Kessie and Christiansen on Monday.

It’s not all good news for Xavi, though; according to Cope, the club can’t afford to sign players because Barca’s pay cap has been exceeded.

After selling a portion of its television rights to a third party, the club recently received a cash infusion of £200 million, however none of that money may be used to sign new players.

Since the team is still behind where they should be despite receiving a sizable sum from the deal, it must instead be used to balance the books from the previous season.

While they were unable to keep Lionel Messi last summer due to financial difficulties, the club did go on to add Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Ferran Torres, and Adama Traore.

Due to the departures of Philippe Coutinho, Dani Alves, and Ousmane Dembele this summer, as well as the expiration of Dembele’s contract, the books have been considerably balanced.

De Jong’s salaries would be eliminated if he is sold this summer, and the around £60 million in transfer fees would augment any incoming funds.

Robert Lewandowski, who wants to leave Bayern Munich this summer, has received the most attention from Barca, however there have also been rumors that they are interested in Cristiano Ronaldo.

    Christensen and Kessie

Spanish powerhouse Barcelona announced on Monday that they have signed free agents from AC Milan and Chelsea respectively.

Ivorian midfielder Kessie, 25, enters from AC Milan, while Danish defender Christensen, 26, joins from Chelsea.

Each player has a four-year contract with a release clause worth 500 million euros (£430 million).

Kessie helped the Rossoneri win their first Serie A championship in 11 years last season by scoring 39 goals in 224 games for them.

After completing the Stamford Bridge youth program, Christensen played a total of 161 games for the Blues and also spent two seasons on loan at Borussia Monchengladbach.
