The Barcelona President stated that the club will not sell the Netherlands midfielder this summer unless they decide that it’s the best decision for both parties.

Note that Frenkie de Jong has become a top target for Manchester United since the arrival of new manager Erik ten Hag. The former Ajax head coach has worked with Frenkie de Jong before and he wants a reunion with his former midfielder at Old Trafford.

Man United’s attempts to sign the Dutchman have all failed but the English Premier League giants are still pushing for a transfer. However, Barcelona are not ready to release him this summer as they look to get the best possible deal for the player.

Speaking during the presentation of former Leeds United winger Raphinha who joined the Spanish giants this week, Barcelona President said: “It is not true that the club is obliged to sell Frenkie. We are at the presentation of a player who will make history at Barca. Xavi will be the one who decides whether he goes on tour, but I understand that he will.”

Barcelona completed the signing of Raphinha just a few days ago after fighting off Chelsea and Arsenal to land the Brazilian.

Raphinha who had an impressive 2021/22 season attracted the attention of big clubs across Europe this summer, however, he made it clear that he wanted to join Barcelona.

Leeds United reportedly reached an agreement with Chelsea over the signing of Raphinha but the player and his agent Deco were reluctant to reach an agreement with the Blues on personal terms.

Although Deco is a former Chelsea player, he allowed his client to choose his next destination.

On the other hand, Bayern Munich hitman Robert Lewandowski has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona and a deal is likely to be agreed upon in the coming days.

The Poland captain has already revealed that he wants to leave the German Bundesliga champions this summer and he desires a switch to Barcelona.

Joan Laporta has also told Barcelona supporters to exercise patience while they continue discussions with Bayern Munich. According to Laporta, Robert Lewandowski is still a Bayern Munich player and his respect for the German Bundesliga champions won’t allow him to comment about the stage of the transfer.

He added that the club has a lot of factors to consider and won’t be forced into signing the prolific striker.

Note that Barcelona are currently having a bad financial statement and the club wants to sell some TV rights to get more funds for transfers.
