La Liga giants Barcelona have revealed that the anticipated reopening of the Nou Camp has been postponed to March 2025 for the 2024-25 season.

The Barcelona hierarchy released a statement saying, “The men’s first team will continue to play at the Estadi Olimpic for the first half of the season, with the goal of returning to a partially opened Spotify Camp Nou for the second half.”

“Lower recurring revenue from stadium operations is expected during the redevelopment of Spotify Camp Nou, with a progressive recovery of stadium revenue once the team returns.”

“Playing at the Estadi Olimpic resulted in a reduction in annual ordinary revenue of over €100m. The club have offset this loss by bringing forward the redevelopment of the stadium as much as possible.”

The Barcelona side left their spiritual stadium at the end of the 2022–23 season as the club hierarchy proceeded with the redevelopment of the stadium.

Since the 2023–24 season, Barcelona played all their home games at the Estadi Olimpic. The stadium has a capacity of 55,926.

The Catalonia Vice President Fort confirmed the postponement of the reopening of the Camp Nou.

“We want to play a match before the end of the year, but the license may not arrive in time, nor will the logistics of the matches. As soon as we can, we will return. But we have a wide margin, a few weeks, so as not to be irresponsible.”

“There are many circumstances that could change that. We want to return home as soon as possible, and as a club we also need it. Having a new home is a dream; we are not a state-owned club or owned by anyone.”

“We belong to the members. We will have the best stadium in the world with significant economic expectations. Everyone is paying attention. It is an architectural marvel and an emotional asset for the members.”
