After scoring his third goal of the season against Rapid Vienna in the Europa League during the midweek, Arsenal striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was expected to continue from there in the Premier League but the goal drought seems to continue.

The skipper, who scored 30 goals across all competitions last season, during which he broke Thierry Henry’s record of early 50 goals has now been having a rough patch in front of goals.

Arsenal recently lost their second game of the season to Leicester City 1-0 at the Emirates courtesy of Jamie Vardy’s strike and the skipper was largely anonymous in the game.

Jamie Vardy has scored five goals at Emirates Stadium in the Premier League, the most of any visiting player

The 31 years old has now become a marked man in his fourth season at the Emirates, having scored 73 goals in 122 matches so far.

Apart from scoring goals, Aubameyang also creates chances for the team through his dazzling run. Unfortunately, this has also been short as Arsenal is also struggling in front of goals.

After playing 601 minutes, he has only been able to provide one assist in 8 games. This has also reduced as well as the Gabon skipper’s shots average 0.29 goals per game in club competitions.

The present stats is not encouraging like that of last season that Auba, as he is fondly called scores in almost every game he played. If he is not a scoring sheet, the striker usually finds himself amongst the providers.

Aubameyang has a total of 6 shots, of which 3 were shots on goal while the rate of his completed passes stands at 73 percent.

Aubameyang: What could be responsible for the captain’s goal drought in the Premier League?

The last time Aubameyang played five league matches without a goal was November 2014, while playing for Borussia Dortmund.

With an expected Goals total of 0.43, which ranks him 77th in the Premier League this campaign, it shows that the captain is struggling.

Aubameyang was largely anonymous against Leicester City

It is now left for Mikel Arteta to fashion out a way that Aubameyang can produced the form he produce last season again and take the club to where it belongs among the top four or six.

No doubt a team player, getting more service from the midfielders could turn the fortune of the striker around as well as the club.

So far, Arsenal has only been able to score eight goals in six games, conceding seven in the process as they occupy the 11th position. The Gunners needs to fashion out a way of reducing the workload on the captain and have more goals coming from the likes of Alexandre Lacazette, Nichola Pepe, Bukayo Saka and the midfielders are not left out.
