    Mikel Arteta led Arsenal team is close on signing a deal worth £50m with Atletico Madrid to bring Thomas Partey to Premier League next season. Reports revealed that Partey has been on the watchlist of Mikel Arteta for sometimes now and the Spaniard is ready to strike a deal with Atletico Madrid in order to get the signature of Partey for Arsenal.

    Reports also revealed that Arteta seemed to be quite keen on signing the Ghanaian player from Atletico Madrid as he negotiates a deal with the Spanish club using Alexander Lacazette as a bait. While it seemed that the Arsenal boss seemed to be taken by the euphoria of ensuring that he gets Thomas Partey’s transfer deal done, the player’s father Jacob Partey also wants his son to sign for the Premier League club.

    Before now, there have been rumored reports circulating the media that Arsenal is holding a talk with Atletico Madrid to explore the possibility of signing Thomas Partey. However, the rumored report has been confirmed by Thomas Partey’s father who seemed to be quite elated that the Premier League club wants the service of his son.

    Partey’s father disclosed this while having a chat with Ghana Web, he said: “I called my son after hearing the rumors and he told me that the rumors are true.

    “He told me they are holding talks between him and Arsenal. It all depends on the offer Atletico are demanding.

    “If he goes to Arsenal fine, they have a lot supporters in Ghana.

    “I will be happy if he decides to move to Arsenal. What they are discussing now is how Atletico will release him.”

    The 26-year-old Ghanaian midfielder was a major part of Atletico Madrid’s victory over Liverpool in the Champions League competition. Meanwhile, his contract with the Spanish club will run until 2023. Also, prior reports suggest that Atletico might have to extend the Ghanaian’s stay in the club with an upward review of his wages.

    However, whatever the future holds for the 26-year-old midfielder might have to wait due to the coronavirus lockdown.
