    Shockingly Liverpool have been kicked out of the Champions League with a loss at their home in Anfield. The loss ends Liverpool’s long unbeaten home record

    Spanish equipotent team, Athletico Madrid has put an end to Liverpool’s Champions League campaign after defeating the defending champion to in the second leg of their Champions League game. The result from the first leg was 1-0 which went in favour of the Spanish side giving them a little edge ahead of Liverpool.

    In the return leg which happened in Anfield last night 11th March, Liverpool midfielder, Georginio Wijnaldum opened the score line with an astonishing header that defeated the intelligent and well prepared Athletico Madrid goal stopper Jan Oblak. The Athletico Madrid’s goalkeeper did more than every other player in the team to ensure that Liverpool doesn’t qualify for the next stage. At one moment in the game, it became glaring that Liverpool Fc are basically playing with Athletico Madrid’s defense team and their fitted out goalkeeper.

    From the first minute of the game to the final minutes, Liverpool Fc kept asking questions from the Athletico’s team but all were answered by either Oblak or their defense team. The game was the first that extended to an extra time, few minutes into the first half of the extra time, the entire stadium stood up to applaud Liverpool’s attacker Roberto Firmino after he clinically finish a pass from Georginio Wijnaldum who was really on fire in the game. The goal by Firmino put Liverpool on the edge and if the game should end that way, the English club will be preparing for the quarter finals.

    The chants and cheers from Liverpool fans were clearly audible enough in the entire stadium, however, they were silenced by a goal from Athletico Madrid’s attacker Marcos Llorente. Liverpool goalkeeper Adrian had clearly made a huge mistake of giving the ball out to Joao Felix who fed Marcos Llorente. The first goal from Marcos Llorente gave the Spainish team an equalizer on aggregate level. You will never walk alone is the slogan, it is expected that just an equalizing goal would definitely not be enough to silent one of the most die-hard football fans on earth.

    BAD GONE WORSE FOR LIVERPOOL

    Things went sour when Marcos Llorente shook the net for Athletico Madrid again in the 105 minutes of the extra time. This time Liverpool has already become fraustrated and the aggressiveness became audible enough in their play. It all gone worse when Alvaro Morata who came in as substitute for Joao Felix took advantage of a defensive error committed by Liverpool’s player and seal the victory for Athletico Madrid.

    Meanwhile, it would be recalled that Athletico Madrid’s boss Diego Simeone had earlier before the match advised Liverpool not to expect a familiar result in Anfield against Athletico Madrid. Liverpool did not just crash out of the Champions League, their home unbeaten spell was also broken by Athletico Madrid.
