Coutinho, Barcelona midfielder, signed a season-long loan deal with Villa on Tuesday.

The deal that brought him to Villa Park also included a £33 million option to make it permanent in the summer.

Coutinho briefed the club’s media about his choice to join Villa, saying, “[Steven Gerrard] told me about the club, the objectives of the club, and his plans as well.”

“It was evident to me after the meeting when I spoke with him that I wanted to be here.” I believe everything occurred swiftly, and I am delighted to be here.”

Despite rival teams offered him offers that would have paid him 100% of his Barcelona salary, the 29-year-old chose to take a pay reduction to join Villa.

Coutinho wanted to come to England and play regular games again, and he sees Villa as a forward-thinking team with big plans for the future.

After spending two and a half years with Liverpool manager Steven Gerrard, the Brazil midfielder is thought to already know a lot about Villa and their squad.

Coutinho would have been willing to come to Liverpool this month, according to a source, but the Merseyside club did not pursue a deal for him in January.

Philippe Coutinho joined Barcelona from Liverpool in January 2018 for a club-record £146 million fee, but he struggled to establish himself in the first team and spent the 2019/20 season on loan at Bayern Munich.

Villa are also interested in Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma, who is entering the final 18 months of his contract, although Seagulls coach Graham Potter confirmed that the Mali midfielder has had no offers from other clubs.

Meanwhile, Villa striker Wesley has signed a loan deal with Brazilian club Internacional for the remainder of the season.

Villa has brushed off interest from Chelsea, Newcastle, and West Ham after several days of negotiations.

Digne is scheduled to have a medical exam in Birmingham later on Wednesday.

The 28-year-old, who has three and a half years left on his Everton deal, has informed the club that he wants to leave this month.

Barcelona is keeping an eye on Rudiger’s contract situation, as the Chelsea defender is now eligible to sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club after reaching the final six months of his current contract.

This month, Real Madrid, PSG, Bayern Munich, and Juventus have all started conversations with Rudiger’s representatives about a pre-contract arrangement.

According to rumours, Paris Saint-Germain is interested in signing Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku.

Chelsea have no plans to make midfielder Saul Niguez’s loan contract with Atletico Madrid permanent in the summer; Saul Niguez thinks he is caught in a trap at Chelsea as his dream loan move turns into a nightmare.

Barcelona are interested in signing Andreas Christensen, who has yet to commit to a new contract at Chelsea. Thomas Tuchel has given Christensen an ultimatum to sign the contract that Chelsea thought they had agreed upon twice.

Chelsea could sell midfielders Hakim Ziyech, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, and Ross Barkley in January to raise finances to bolster other parts of the club.

News on Chelsea Player’s Contract

Thiago Silva has agreed to a one-year contract extension with Chelsea, which would keep him at the club until the end of the 2022/23 campaign.

Chelsea are expected to offer goalkeeper Edouard Mendy a lucrative new contract worth £100,000 per week.

Steven Bergwijn Transfer Update

The 39-year-old scored 32 goals in 76 games for Rangers last season, helping them win the Scottish Premiership title. He joined the club on loan from Bournemouth in 2019 before making the transfer permanent.

In the summer, Defoe extended his stay at Ibrox and was hired as a player-coach by then-Rangers manager Steven Gerrard.

Defoe was backed to play a vital part on the pitch following the arrival of Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s backroom crew, which included coaches Roy Makaay, former Ajax development expert Dave Vos, Yori Bosschaart, and Arno Phillps.
