Joining the Steven Gerard-led team from Marseille in the just-concluded summer transfer window, Boubacar Kamara was one of the top midfielders acquired by Gerard into the team.

Before sustaining the injury, which is reported to rule him out of action till November, the 22-year-old made Deschamp’s squad for the just-concluded UEFA Nations League group stages.

Kamara would have inevitably made it to the French World Cup squad save for the ligament damage.

Steven Gerard, who spoke after the game, expressed his worries over the gale of injuries that has rocked his team.

He said: “I’m worried about it, It seems like every time we get three points it comes with a cost.”

The ligament damage to the 22-year-old France international is the second injury scare that has rocked Aston Villa just a few matches into the season.

A £26 million signing from Sevilla, Diego Carlos, who joined the team in June, was the first casualty who opened Aston Villa’s injury list for the season.

Diego Carlos ruptured his Achilles in his second match for Aston Villa when the team hosted Merseyside club, Everton at Villa Park in August.

Currently on the 15th position on the log with 7 points from matches after 2 wins, a draw, and 4 losses, Steven Gerard will travel to Elland Road with his injury-stricken squad to take on Leeds United.

As much as it is a massive loss to Aston Villa, Boubacar Kamara may also be a temporary setback in his national team career since making his debut in 2022.

Missing out on France’s 2022 World Cup squad is a great undoing to the youngster who will fail to make it to the World’s biggest soccer fiesta in the blooms of his football career.
