Arsenal right-back Norton-Cuffy will be leaving the North London club to join Genoa according to multiple reports.

The Gunners are making bold preparations for the upcoming Premier League season with the club actively working to trim their squad and make room for new signings.

Emile Smith Rowe has already completed a move to Fulham while Eddie Nketiah’s departure is imminent, with Marseille considering a new bid.

In a significant development, Brooke Norton-Cuffy, Arsenal’s promising young right-back, is set to join Genoa in a permanent deal worth €2 million plus add-ons.

The news of the transfer was first revealed by La Repubblica newspaper and then confirmed by Sky Sport Italia before renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported it.

Fabrizio Romano confirms Norton-Cuffy move to Genoa

The deal, according to Fabrizio Romano is almost agreed upon and medical tests could happen tomorrow, Tuesday, August 13.

Romano wrote on his X account, formerly Twitter: “Brooke Norton-Cuffy leaves Arsenal to join Genoa, deal almost agreed between clubs.”

The Italian confirmed that the deal with the Gunners has been finalized, with approval given for the agreement to proceed.

Romano added in another tweet: “Arsenal will receive €2m fixed fee plus add-ons for Brooke Norton-Cuffy to join Genoa on a permanent deal. Medical tests booked later this week.”

The 20-year-old who hailed as Arsenal’s “own Reece James,” has gained valuable experience through loan spells at Lincoln City, Rotherham United and Coventry City.

He also spent last season on loan at Millwall FC in the English Championship, where he scored two goals and provided four assists in 40 league games.

It’s believed that four more players will potentially leave before the end of August following Arsenal’s efforts to streamline their squad.

This move will actually pave the way for new arrivals, as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his team for the upcoming season.

Meanwhile, Norton-Cuffy’s departure marks the end of an era for the talented youngster, who was once tipped for promotion to Arsenal’s first team.

Who is Norton-Cuffy?

Norton-Cuffy is an English professional footballer who plays as a right-back for Premier League club Arsenal.

His club career

Brooke Norton-Cuffy has had a whirlwind career path since beginning his journey with Chelsea as a youngster.

At just 12 years old, he made the switch to Arsenal, signing his first professional contract in January 2021.

Norton-Cuffy’s senior debut came in January 2022, when he joined Lincoln City on loan from Arsenal, coming off the bench against Plymouth Argyle. He went on to score his first senior goal against Sheffield Wednesday in March 2022.

The 20-year-old’s loan spells continued, with season-long stints at Rotherham United in 2022 and Coventry City in 2023, after being recalled by Arsenal in January. Most recently, he joined Millwall on a season-long loan in August 2023.

However, Norton-Cuffy’s latest move sees him leave Arsenal permanently, joining Genoa in a €2 million plus add-ons deal.

The highly-rated youngster is set to embark on a new chapter in Serie A, leaving behind his Arsenal roots.

His international career

The 20-year-old has represented the Three Lions at the U16, U18 and U19 level

Norton-Cuffy made his debut for the England U20s during a 2–0 win over Germany in Manchester in March 2023.

On 10 May 2023, he was included in the England squad for the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup but he didn’t arrive at the tournament until after the group stage.

On 16 October 2023, Norton-Cuffy made his England U21 debut as a substitute during a 3–2 defeat to Ukraine and has played three more matches.
