Arsenal’s target and Lille striker Jonathan David has stated his intention to move to either the Premier League or La Liga.
The 23-year-old Canadian striker went on to claim that those two top leagues are what every child dreams of.
The Canadians scored a hat trick against Olympic Lyon on March 11, 2023. The match ended in a 3-3 draw, with the striker scoring two penalties.
The attacker was the first player to score three or more goals in a single match since Nicolas Pepe did that against Amiens on September 15, 2018.
David broke Eden Hazard’s all-time record as the highest goal scorer in the century. He now has 53 goals in his career so far at the French giant Lille.
In his post match interview, he claimed he has a lot of respect for Hazard and that breaking his record at home is something special to him.
David is looking forward to helping Lille get into the top four of Ligue 1 before the end of the season.
David had scored more goals than Kylian Mbappe, with 19 goals.
The player doesn’t want to be dragged into the discussion of talking about his future, as he is only focused on the next Lille match against Toulouse on March 18, 2023.
Manchester United are looking forward to signing a striker next season even though his contract ends in 2025.
It is a top priority for the Dutch manager due to Wout Weghorst’s inconsistency and Anthony Martial’s constant injuries.
David is going to be a cheap option, but there are rumors that Manchester United wants a Premier League-proven striker and may go for Harry Kane next season.
The player has also received significant interest from Arsenal, Tottenham, and Real Madrid.
The player has been in fine form and has contributed immensely to the victories of the Lille side.
Jonathan David Stats
The striker scored 53 goals and nine assists in 125 appearances for Lille. He also scored 37 goals and created 15 assists in 83 appearances for KAA Genk.
For his national team, David had scored 24 goals in 42 appearances. He is also likely to retire as the all-time leading goal scorer in the history of Canadian football if he stays consistent.
In addition, he won the French League and the Super Cup with Lille. That has been his greatest achievement. The striker has not won anything outside of Lille.
A move to a big club in Europe may be the beginning of him winning the Champions League and other big titles.
He is the kind of player capable of scoring more than 20 goals in a season.
