Arsenal WFC midfielder Frida Maanum is now in a stable condition after she collapsed on the pitch during a league victory against Chelsea WFC on April 31, 2024.
Maanum fell to the ground in the 95th minute of the match and required oxygen during the nine-minute stoppage.
There were no other players close to the midfielder when she lost consciousness. Arsenal manager Jonas Eidevall, who was the first to notice the player, requested urgent treatment for her.
Arsenal left back, Katie McCabe, rushed to her side and required the medics to quickly enter the pitch. Maanum appeared to be unresponsive at first, as her action sent panic to the hearts of the players and fans.
The midfielder was not given Cardiopulmonary resuscitation before she left the pitch on a stretcher with an oxygen mask. The reason for her collapse was still unknown, but it was revealed that she was talking after the match against Chelsea WFC.
Maanum will be closely monitored by the Arsenal medical staff according to a statement from the club.
