Robert Pires has expressed that Manchester City’s Jeremy Doku is better than Bukayo Saka of Arsenal.

Pires claimed that Saka lacks a specific level of consistency, and as such, he views Doku as a better footballer than the Gunners forward.

Robert Pires pinpointed certain areas in Jeremy Doku’s game which gives him the edge over Bukayo Saka.

Jeremy Doku Is Better Than Bukayo Saka – Robert Pires Says

Speaking on the pair, the French great shared that Doku is a better dribbler than Saka, and the Belgian is also more imaginative.

Pires, who played for Arsenal between 2000 and 2006, said: “Bukayo still lacks a certain level of consistency. In my opinion, Jeremy Doku is a bit better. He has better dribbling skills and is more imaginative.”

Robert Pires is widely considered one of Arsenal’s greatest-ever players and one of the best wingers of his generation.

The 50-year-old won several trophies during his time at Arsenal, including; 2 Premier League titles and 2 FA Cup crowns.

He was also a member of the Gunners setup, who reached the final of the UEFA Champions League during the 2006/07 season albeit losing to Barcelona 2-1 at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis.

Additionally, Pires was an integral figure in Arsenal’s invincible team that won the 2003/04 Premier League title.

Robert Pires also played for teams like Villarreal, Aston Villa, Olympique Marseille, and FC Metz.

Who Is Better Between Jeremy Doku And Bukayo Saka?

It is a really difficult question to answer, given the noticeable abilities of both players.

The pair can dribble and are quite technical, although Jeremy Doku’s end product is still suspect, but he appears to be improving on that part of his game.

However, Bukayo Saka’s finishing is quite impressive, and he shoulders more responsibility at Arsenal, unlike Doku, who is understandably now a key player at Manchester City but not the standout name at the club.

Despite the qualities Saka, 23, possesses, it is also worth noting that he hasn’t delineated his brilliance at the club consistently (all through a season), a dark part of his game that Pires highlighted.

In terms of goal contribution, Bukayo Saka edges Jeremy Doku, having scored 59 goals and provided 56 assists in 229 games for Arsenal.

Internationally, Saka has also netted 12 goals and contributed 7 assists in 42 appearances for England.

Doku, 22, has netted 24 goals and provided 28 assists in 176 club appearances thus far in his career.

Internationally, Jeremy Doku has scored 2 goals and provided 10 assists in 28 matches for Belgium.

Statistically, Bukayo Saka trumps Doku in the attacking department, having recorded better numbers over the years for the position they play.

    Bukayo Saka

Saka will be hoping to continue delivering impressive performances for Arsenal, as he looks to continue developing his craft.

The Englishman has contributed in every game Mikel Arteta’s side has played this season, scoring and providing an assist in their opening game of the season against Wolves, before providing an assist against Aston Villa and Brighton.

The Gunners return to action on September 15, 2024, and Saka will be aiming to guide Arsenal to a victory over neighbors Tottenham Hotspur.

    Jeremy Doku

Doku appears to have secured a starting berth at Manchester City, having played in their first three matches of the season.

Jeremy Doku is yet to score this season but has put up impressive displays in all the Citizens league games thus far.

Pep Guardiola’s side return to action on September 14, 2024, with a home game against Brentford, and Doku will be looking to exude his brilliance at the Etihad.
