The USMNT goalkeeper Turner Has signed a four-year contract with Nottingham Forest, which will keep him at the club until 2027.

Last summer, Turner made a move from the New England Revolution to Arsenal for a transfer fee of approximately £5 million.

The 29-year-old goalie has left Arsenal permanently after spending just one year at Emirates Stadium. During his time there, he was unable to secure the No.1 jersey, as it was held by Aaron Ramsdale.

Matt Turner went on to make seven appearances for the Gunners, successfully keeping five clean sheets. However, he failed to make a single appearance in the Premier League.

Keeping this in mind, Arsenal decided to let go of the 29-year-old so that he could pursue more playing time elsewhere.

Turner, who watched from the bench as the Gunners triumphed over Manchester City in the Community Shield on Sunday, August 6, will now assume the role of the main goalkeeper at Forest.

Turner expressed his excitement about joining Nottingham Forest on the club’s official website during his unveiling today, August 9.

He said:”I am thrilled to be here.” I am eagerly anticipating this opportunity as it presents a significant challenge and represents a major milestone in my professional journey.”

“When I learned about the interest in bringing me here, it felt like the perfect fit for my family. It also felt right when my agent discussed it with me, and I believe it is the right decision for me at this moment. “

He added: “I am grateful for the opportunity to be here and I am eagerly looking forward to getting things started.”

Arsenal’s choice to release Turner coincides with their efforts to acquire Brentford’s goalkeeper David Raya.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that Raya has already agreed to a £30m ($38m) transfer move to Emirates Stadium.

The Brentford’s goalie is expected to compete with Ramsdale for the No.1 spot in Mikel Arteta’s lineup when the new season begins.

The 27-year-old is expected to become Arsenal’s fourth signing of the summer after Declan Rice, Jurrien Timber and Kai Havertz were brought in at the start of the window.

    What’s next for Matt Turner?

Turner might have the opportunity to make his debut for Nottingham Forest against his previous club.

Arsenal are scheduled to host Steve Cooper’s side at the Emirates Stadium for their 2023-24 Premier League season opener on Saturday, August 12.
