    Leno’s Career

Leno was playing for VfB Stuttgart until he was loaned to Bayer Leverkusen in 2011. He made his Bundesliga debut against Werder Bremen four days after signing a five-month loan contract.

He became the third goalie in Bundesliga history to maintain a clean sheet in his first three games, following Dirk Krüssenberg and Heribert Macherey.

He made history as the youngest German goalkeeper to ever participate in a Champions League match when he made his debut against Chelsea in the 2011–12 UEFA Champions League group stage on September 13, 2011, at the age of 19 years and 193 days.

Arsenal confirmed on June 19, 2018, that Leno had signed a five-year contract with the club for a cost of £22.5 million, subject to the completion of “regulatory processes.” Leno made his Arsenal debut in a 4–2 win over Vorskla Poltava during a Europa League game.

In the 2–0 win over Watford at home, Leno made his Premier League debut, replacing regular goalkeeper Petr Cech, who suffered an injury in the first half. In October 2015, Leno was called up to the senior German team for UEFA Euro 2016 qualifiers against the Republic of Ireland and Georgia.

Since then, the 30-year-old German goalkeeper has made 9 appearances in all competitions for Germany as he continues to await the retirement of legendary 36-year-old Germany first-choice goalkeeper Manuel Peter Neuer.
