The manager of Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp was filled with praises for Arsenal football club as he insisted that the London club was better than the 8th spot they ended their Premier League campaign last season.

Arsenal football club started the 2019-2020 Premier League season struggling under the reign of Unai Emery. But when Mike Arteta took over as the manager of the club, the Gunners experienced a new era where they were winning games consistently.

From below the top 10 on the league table, they were able to push themselves to the 8th spot before the season ended. Arsenal achieved this by being among the few Premier League clubs to defeat Liverpool in the league.

Besides their performance in the league, they did so well that they defeated Manchester City and Chelsea to win the English FA Cup for a record 12th time. This qualified them for the 2020-2021 Europa League ahead of Wolves which finished a spot above them on the league table.

Klopp said: “They (Arsenal) were not the eighth-best team in the league, they could’ve qualified easily for Europe [via the league], if not even the Champions League.

“The Premier League and these teams are too good, you can’t decide the season before it starts. It just doesn’t work like this.

“Man City, I think maybe people thought they could have some struggles at Wolves because Wolves are really good…and in the second half they could have got a point.

“Nobody is safe from this kind of thing, so we have to work incredibly hard. And over the other teams, we have no influence. When we face them, we want to beat them.

“It’s an open race, Chelsea will be there, [Manchester] United will be there, Arsenal, Tottenham – these teams will always be there.

“There are tough moments for us and other teams and it’s about how you react and are you doing it in the right way.

“It’s a marathon, not a sprint, and you have to go through a lot of moments. I don’t know why today we talk about winning the league, I have no idea who will win but I know a lot of teams will try.”

Meanwhile, Mikel Arteta and his men proved that whatever they achieved last season was not a fluke as they commenced the 2020-2021 season by defeating Liverpool to win the 2020 Community Shield. Since then, the Gunners have played three games unbeaten including two Premier League matches against Fulham and West Ham.

Tomorrow, September 28, Arsenal will meet Liverpool again but this time around it will be in the third round of the EFL Cup. Based on the impressive records Arsenal have enjoyed over Liverpool in recent times, the match-up is expected to be an explosive one that could go either way.
