Arsenal are not only losing players, they are also losing their doctors. Ouch. The teams doctor Gary O’driscoll is set to make his departure. Funny thing is, he’s leaving for a much better club and most likely, better pay and will be joking the Reds at Anfield.
Perhaps, the good doc got tired of taking care of weak players game in and game out and needed to work with the greats. Liverpool have announced that they are set to appoint Arsenal doctor Gary O’Driscoll as their new head of medical services. The Reds will lose the current head of their medical department, Andy Massey in the days to come. Massey is said to be departing to take up a similar role at Fifa in March.
But it is believed that Arsenal club are not wasting anytime as they have already sourced a replacement for O’’Driscoll . The doctor is leaving the club after a 11-year association with the Gunners in order to join the European champions.
The former Ireland rugby and British and Irish Lions team doctor will be free to begin his new role once Arsenal have found a successor. The north London club began advertising a vacancy as their head of sports medicine this week.
O’Driscoll is the cousin of Irish rugby union legend Brian O’Driscoll and revealed to the Irish Independent in 2010 that he is a boyhood Manchester United fan.
