It was a sea of heads in Bueno Aires as Lionel Messi led the home return of Argentina after a victorious 2022 World Cup campaign.
The scene at Bueno Aires was incredible as football fans greeted the team with a heroic welcome at Argentina FA’s headquarters.
The airplane that carried Lionel Messi, the entire team, and the World Cup trophy had the picture of the World Cup hero Lionel Messi stamped to its tailfin. Meanwhile, Argentina football fans were already on the ground to welcome back the team.
The ecstatic and excited fans drowned the scene with loud cheers as the team arrived from Qatar.
The green and white stripes of Argentina flag were flown and held high in some sections of the crowd.
Drummers, trumpeters, and whistle-blowers also lit the scene with songs chorused by the crowds as they awaited the arrival.
Lionel was spotted stepping out of the airplane first with the World Cup trophy, followed by other teammates and the entire coaching crew.
After disembarking from the Airbus, the players were driven by a bus through the crowds with their individual medals hanging on their necks.
They all sang as they weaved themselves through the crowd amidst cheers by the fans who had clogged around the vehicle as it drove through.
The team returned the cheers, waving to the fans while slowly driving their way through.
The heroic welcome is just a top of the iceberg. As of the time of writing this report, the main celebration was scheduled to kick off at capital city’s Obelisk monument.
The Argentine government is said to be impressed and happy with the team’s historic feat in Qatar, and a bank holiday has been declared.
