Antony Sustains Injury In Manchester United’s 1-1 draw With Fenerbahce

The Brazil international was introduced in the 73rd minute of proceedings, with Marcus Rashford being withdrawn as Erik ten Hag’s side sought a late winner.

After entering the fray to replace Rashford, Antony sustained an injury and he went down on the turf in need of medical attention.

The 24-year-old was treated by Manchester United’s medical team and he gestured that he could continue, only to go down on the field moments after returning to the pitch after treatment.

Antony Matheus then signaled to the bench that he couldn’t continue and he had to receive extra treatment before being stretchered off the pitch.

He was replaced by Amad Diallo as Manchester United went on to play out a 1-1 draw with Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce.

Manchester United Vs Fenerbahce

Erik ten Hag’s side put up an underwhelming display in Turkey, just like they have done in many matches this term.

Christian Eriksen had pushed Manchester United ahead 15 minutes into the game before Youssef En-Nesyri equalized for the hosts in the 49th minute.

The draw indicated that the Old Trafford side have failed to secure a victory after 3 UEFA Europa League matches this campaign.

Due to their poor showing, Manchester United sit outside automatic qualification places for the knockout stages, as they occupy the 21st spot on the standings.

Antony In The 2024/25 Season

The 24-year-old came into the fixture with the mindset of impressing Ten Hag but after 14 minutes his evening was over due to an unfortunate injury.

Antony Matheus will be hoping to weather the storm this season, having failed to live up to the billing at Manchester United since joining the club in the summer of 2022.

The ex-Ajax star has made just 6 appearances this campaign, scoring 1 goal and providing no assists across all competitions.
