This happened after a police investigation into domestic violence allegations involving the 24-year-old Antony concluded with no charges brought against him.

What happened?

The Manchester United winger has been the subject of a police investigation in Brazil after his ex-girlfriend Gabriela Cavallin accused him of assaulting and threatening her.

The sexy damsel who works as a DJ made her allegations public in May 2023 on Brazilian channel TV Record, claiming that she had been first abused by Antony the year before.

She stated, “He threw water on me, kicked me, pulled my hair, headbutted me, and caused a cut.”

Following the claim, Sao Paulo Police invited Antony and his ex-girlfriend Cavallin for questioning and also collected statements from 19 other witnesses during their investigation, according to Globo.

However, despite the initial complaint against Antony, the police have found no evidence of wrongdoing after over a year of investigation, according to reports.

Sao Paulo Police announced Antony isn’t guilty of domestic violence

Sao Paulo police have announced that they will not be pressing charges against the Manchester United star, and the case will now be passed on to the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Brazil.

Meanwhile, Greater Manchester Police are still investigating the allegations, with Antony maintaining his innocence throughout.

Cavallin’s lawyer rebuffs Antony’s innocence

Despite the findings of the police investigation which cleared Antony of any wrongdoing, Cavallin’s lawyer is steadfast in his claim that Antony is guilty of domestic violence.

Cavallin’s lawyer, Daniel Bialski, spoke out after the conclusion of the Sao Paulo Police investigation: “It should be noted that there is overwhelming evidence that leaves no doubt that Gabriela was the victim, here in Brazil and in England, of physical and psychological aggression.”

“Therefore, we await the statement from the Public Prosecutor’s Office, trusting and hoping that a formal criminal complaint will be filed against former player Anthony, who should be prosecuted and, ultimately, convicted for his multiple acts of violence against women.”

The defense team, on the other hand, remains confident in Antony’s innocence and continues to stand by him.

Mauricio de Carvalho Araujo and Elaine Angel who are part of Antony’s defence team, also issued a statement which reads: “The defense always believed that the investigations would demonstrate Antony’s innocence.”

Antony took a leave of absence from Manchester United following the allegations and has strongly asserted his innocence, stating that he has never and will never physically harm a woman.

He told Brazilian TV channel SBT: ”I know the truth and it will come out. I know many are butchering me, but the truth always comes out.”

”I’m 100 per cent sure I’ve never touched a woman, and I’ll come up with the evidence. I have never assaulted and I will never assault. I’m sure I’ve never committed physical violence. I have a mother, a sister, and I would never want this to happen to them.”

What’s next?

The Brazilian star was rumored to be leaving Old Trafford this summer but ultimately decided to stay with Manchester United and help lead them to success in the 2024-25 Premier League season.

Manchester United winger Antony has been absolved of assault and threatening his ex-girlfriend in Brazil after a thorough investigation.

However, the final decision from the Public Prosecutor’s Office will ultimately determine if he is fully cleared or if a formal criminal complaint will be pursued. What are your thoughts on this outcome?
