If Antonio Conte departs Tottenham Hotspur at the conclusion of the season, Graham Potter appears to be their top target. However, Tottenham will have to pay Brighton over £10 million to acquire him.

Potter and Robert Mancini, according to Matt De Law, are being considered as alternatives to Mauricio Pochettino, who has been linked with a return to Spurs.

However, if Tottenham is forced to make a change, Potter is now widely regarded as the leader to succeed Conte, while the possibility of chairman Daniel Levy going to fans’ favorite Pochettino cannot be ruled out.

Levy was willing to pay the £15 million compensation required to sign Potter last summer, but the 46-year-old choose to stay at Brighton, who are currently ninth in the Premier League table.

With one year left on his contract, the magnitude of the compensation sum is thought to have lessened, although Tottenham would still have to spend more than £10 million to sign Potter.

Tottenham managing director Fabio Paratici is said to have been impressed by Potter’s coaching during his time in England, and while fans would undoubtedly welcome a move to rehire Pochettino, there are some doubts within the club about whether it would be a good move for both parties.

Conte has stated that he will make his decision about his future at the end of the season when he meets with Levy and Paratici to discuss the club’s ambitions.

The Italian is expected to tell the duo that he wants six to eight new players and that Spurs will need to spend heavily in the summer window to stay competitive.

Given the interest in Potter, rumors in Spain claim Tottenham is interested in signing Brighton left-winger Marc Cucurella. Brighton is poised to sell Aston Villa target Yves Bissouma this summer, with sporting director Dan Ashworth having gone.

Should Antonio Conte leave the club due to a difference in desire, this may encourage Potter to consider a proposal from Tottenham this time.

Conte has been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain, where Mauricio Pochettino is poised to quit despite winning the Ligue 1 title.
