Anthony Martial of Manchester United issued an apology following a training-ground altercation with Dan Gore of the youth team.

According to reports, during a training session at Carrington last Wednesday, Martial was the target of a hard challenge from 18-year-old Gore. The France international retaliated, but Gore stood his ground.

After the incident, Martial apologized to the 18-year-old, who joined United from Burnley in the summer. Both players had to be pulled apart during a row.

Days after, Martial had to apologize to Gore for the incident.

Gore was informed by Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag that first-team players shouldn’t be overextended in practice due to the danger of injury.

Gore, an Under-18 international for England, has played for United this year at the Under-21 level. Martial is still working out with United since he wasn’t chosen for the France World Cup roster.

The altercation has been compared to the kind of disputes that are frequently witnessed between young people who are anxious to impress their managers.

Since Cristiano Ronaldo’s dramatic Piers Morgan interview, Martial’s importance to Ten Hag has increased.

Despite having 30 France caps, he hasn’t played for them in more than a year.

Didier Deschamps, the France national team coach, decided not to call up a substitute after Karim Benzema’s injury forced him to withdraw from the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Martial, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Sevilla, has four goals in seven games since coming back to Manchester United.

Despite being permitted to change his first-choice No. 9 by Fifa regulations, Deschamps decided not to call up Martial on Sunday after Karim Benzema suffered an injury on the training field on Saturday.

Recall that the coach substituted injured Christopher Nkunku for Randal Kolo Muani of Eintracht Frankfurt instead of Anthony Martial.

However, Karim Benzema has been ruled out of the World Cup due to injury, but Didier Deschamps, the manager of France, has explained why he did not replace him in the team.

Despite no longer having the 2022 Ballon d’Or winner Benzema in his lineup, Deschamps again chose not to include Martial. He stated that he would not switch out the Los Blancos forward with another player, and he has not explained why he came to that conclusion.

Martial, 26, has scored four goals in his last six outings for Erik ten Hag’s team, so his exclusion will be disappointing to the United attacker. However, the striker has struggled with injuries already this year and has started just two Premier League games for the Reds.

The Frenchman’s other goals came in the Europa League victory over Omonia Nicosia and the EFL Cup victory over Aston Villa. He scored a brace off the bench in the loss to Manchester City last month.

Martial, while previously being a fixture in Deschamps’ lineups, hasn’t played for his nation since September 2021. In his 30 career appearances for France, he has contributed two goals and eight assists.
