Manchester United star, Anthony Martial limped off the pitch when he was substituted in the FIFA World Cup qualification match between France and Kazakhstan on Sunday, March 28, 2021.
The French striker played for 59 minutes before the head coach of the reigning World Cup champions, Didier Deschamps decided to replace him with Paris Saint Germain striker Kylian Mbappe.
Before he left the game, Martial helped France to take the lead by providing the assist for Ousmane Dembele’s 19th-minute goal. Afterward, Kazakhstan’s Serhiy Malyi scored an own goal in the 44th minute which made it 2-0 in favor of France.
In the second half of the game, Anthony Martial tried to create another goalscoring opportunity. But when he successfully broke into the eighteen-yard box, he made a heavy touch on the ball, and then had to stretch himself to maintain possession.
It was suspected that the 25-year-old France international injured himself when he stretched himself to keep the ball. But he was not substituted immediately. He played for a couple of minutes and even played a shot with the injured leg.
As of the time of publishing this report, it has not been known how badly injured Anthony Martial is but reports claimed that he sustained a knee injury that could keep him out of football for a couple of weeks.
If such speculation is anything to go by, the 25-year-old striker could miss France’s FIFA World Cup qualification match against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Wednesday, March 31, 2021.
He will be a bigger blow to Manchester United because the Premier League club is still struggling to return one of the club’s forwards, Marcus Rashford back to full fitness. Recall that the English winger had to leave England’s camp and return to his club due to a fitness issue.
As it stands, Manchester United could be without Rashford and Anthony Martial in the Premier League game against Brighton on April 3.
Anthony Martial snubs Kylian Mbappe
A strange thing happened when Anthony Martial was substituted in the World Cup qualification match between France and Kazakhstan. The Manchester United star was replaced in the match by the Paris Saint Germain star.
As usual, Mbappe tried to shake hands with Anthony Martial who was limping off the pitch. But Martial snubbed him to the dismay of the PSG star who had to halt his run to look back at Martial who didn’t show remorse for what he has done.

As of the time of publishing this report, the video had gone viral on social media and Anthony Martial was yet to tender a public explanation or apology to Kylian Mbappe.
