From Marcus Rashford to Mason Greenwood to Bruno Fernandes, so many Manchester United players enjoyed phenomenal seasons from an individual standpoint but Wes Brown is of the opinion that Anthony Martial was the Red Devils’ best player this past season. For the first time since his move from Monaco, he finished as the club’s top scorer with 23 strikes in all competitions.

    Anthony Martial

Brown believes that it’s a two-way battle between Martial and Fernandes but leans towards the striker because he was present all-season long, unlike Fernandes who only arrived in the January transfer window. While speaking to MUTV, the former Manchester United defender said:

“It’s going to be tough but I’m probably just going to go Anthony Martial. I thought he stepped up this season and I love it when he smiles because that means he’s scoring! We need to see more of that. If Bruno had maybe got here a little bit earlier, it would 100 per cent have been him. I’ll stick with my guns and say Anthony Martial.”

In all fairness, Bruno has been United’s best player since he signed. He scored 12 goals while also supplying eight assists in his 22 games since arriving from Sporting Lisbon. This healthy run saw Manchester United lose only one game in that time and overturn a 13-point deficit which they once trailed Leicester City by to eventually finish third.

Although, Bruno’s arrival also brought out the best in Anthony Martial, Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford as the trio went on to score over 60 goals combined. With the impact that Bruno had in such a short time, It won’t be surprising if he is outrightly the club’s best player next season which he will start from the very beginning.
