Ajax midfielder Steven Berghuis appeared to punch a FC Twente supporter after his club lost 3-1 to the Twente side.
Steven Berghuis, when boarding a team bus, got angered by a fan. The midfielder got off the bus, reached the barriers, and put the Twente fan in his place with a heavy punch.
As revealed in the clip below, Steven followed it up with some words as other supporters looked up in shock.
The security guard was seen holding the midfielder’s back to calm him after he hit one of the fans.
However, Steven Berghuis later boarded the bus after another staff member arrived at the scene. Berghuis had apologized after the incident.
He said:”I regret my actions; I should not have done this.” After every away game, we get a lot of threats thrown at us on bus while we take time out to sign autographs for fans.”
The player continued, “I’m used to it by now, but people think they can just shout anything. My reaction doesn’t solve anything; I get that. It’s not good; I have an exemplary role as a player for Ajax.
Ajax had also responded to the incident by placing a fine on the player.
