Ange Postecoglou has won the Premier League Manager of the Month award for August 2023.
He is the first Australian manager to win the award, and the first manager since Huddersfield Town’s David Wagner to be awarded the honour in their first month in charge.
Postecoglou’s Tottenham side had an unbeaten start to the Premier League season, winning three from four matches, including an impressive 2-0 win over Manchester United. The team also played an attacking and attractive brand of football, which has won over the fans and pundits alike.
Ange Postecoglou was humble in his acceptance of the award, describing himself as just the “frontman” for the club. He said that the award was “an indication of us as a club that we’ve handled a pretty challenging start fairly well.”
Postecoglou’s appointment at Tottenham was met with some skepticism from some quarters, as he had no previous experience of managing in Europe. However, he has quickly proven himself to be a top-class manager, and he will be looking to continue his success in the months and years to come.
