    Pirlo has no managerial experience yet

    Former Juventus midfielder, Andrea Pirlo is now at the helms of coaching affairs in the club after the sack of Maurizio Sarri.

    The Turin club sacked the former Chelsea boss after failing to scale through Lyon in the round of 16 of the Champions League. The French team qualified for the last 8 courtesy of an away goal qualified for the next round.

    Pirlo spent flour years with Juve

    The appointment of Pirlo is coming just a week after hiring him for the Under-23 squad which plays in Serie C – Italy’s third division.

    New chapter for Andrea Pirlo

    Juventus in a statement said Pirlo, who was born in Flero in the province of Brescia will now begin a new chapter after signing a two-year deal.

    “Pirlo has had a legendary career as a player that has led him to win everything, from the Champions League to the World Cup in 2006. In his four years at the centre of the Juventus midfield, Pirlo won as many league titles, a Coppa Italia and two Italian Super Cups.

    “Today, begins a new chapter of his career in the world of football, as it was said almost a week ago: from Maestro to Mister. From today he will be THE coach for people of Juventus, as the club has decided to entrust him with the technical leadership of the First Team, after having already selected him for Juventus Under 23.”

    Pirlo won Scutto with Pirlo

    The club futher stated that the choice was based on the belief that Pirlo has what it takes to lead from his debut on the bench, an expert and talented squad to pursue new successes.

    After being presented in a press conference by President Andrea Agnelli and director Fabio Paratici a week ago as the new coach of the Under-23 side, Pirlo will now be making his managerial debut with the top club’s senior players.

    Juve retained the Serie A title, which was the ninth consecutive but lost the Coppa Italia Final and the Italian Supercup.

    Pirlo following Zidane’s footstp

    Meanwhile, Agnelli has said that he sees Pirlo as following in the footsteps of Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid.

    Pirlo was a creative midfielder with a great vision of the game. This helps him connect with the players and be automatically respected by them for his career. He is expected to transfer his experience into the young ones.

    He is also a the 2006 World Cup winner with Italy, and also winner of numerous Champions League and Serie A titles between Milan and Juventus.

    After a spell in the US with New York City FC, he retired in January 2018 after, having played four years for Juventus from 2011 to 2015.

    Details of the contract is yet to be revealed.
