Andre Onana has broken his silence on his big move to Manchester United and replacing David De Gea as Manchester United new goalkeeper.

Manchester United sealed a deal with Inter Milan to sign the Cameroonian Goalkeeper for £43million. The Red Devils will fork out a total of £47.1million for Onana. £43.7million will be payed upfront while £3.1million has been agreed as add-ons.

On Wednesday, Andre Onana was driven via a black vane to the Milan airport where he made his way down to the UK to link up with Manchester United.

Speaking with Gazello dello sport while preparing for his trip to Carrington, Onana said a move to Manchester United was clearly ‘irresistible’ on his side and the two sides wanted the move to happen.

The former Ajax goalie also spoke of his dream to win the Champions League with Manchester United as he takes up the new exciting challenge of keeping the sticks for one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League.

“I am a person who always wants new challenges. Playing in the Premier League and for a club like Manchester United is irresistible. I want to win the Champions League at United.”

“I really want to start this new exciting experience, with a coach who is a master for me,” he said.

When he was asked how he will step into the shoes of his legendary predecessors such as Peter Schemeidel, Edwin van der Sar, and David De Gea, Onana said he is proud to be lined up for the challenge and is hoping to win trophies with the team.

“Being chosen to continue this tradition makes me proud and responsible: I want to win trophies with my new companions.”

Andre Onana arrived Manchester United training ground with his agent on Wednesday ahead of his medical.

Erik Ten Hag championed the move for the Inter Milan goalkeeper following United’s contract renewal deadlock with David De Gea.

De Gea is understood to have fallen off Erik Ten Hag’s pecking order and was handed a new contract proposal with a significant wage cut.

De Gea signed the deal after a dragging round of talks but Manchester United decided to take a rather shocking move – withdrawing the offer and reissuing a new proposal with a more reduced offer.

De Gea finally refused to sign the contract and announced his departure from the club after 12 years.

Andre Onana will be expected to step into David De Gea’s shoe as Manchester United first choice goalkeeper. Erik Ten Hag reportedly pushed for Onana to replace David De Gea as he wanted a goalkeeper that is good with the ball on his feet.

Ten hag worked with Andre Onana for five years at Ajax before they left the Dutch side last summer.

Onana has impressed in his first season at Inter Milan, winning a domestic double and reaching Champions League final.

Andre Onana will be expected to join Manchester United preseason tour with the club working hard to halt delay in processing his visa to allow him join the preseason campaign.
