Andre Onana may miss weeks of action for Manchester United based on recent updates on his injury situation.
We reported earlier Andre Onana had withdrew from Cameroon squad for November international break due to injury.
He started for the Indomitable Lions in 2026 World Cup qualifiers win over Mauritius before hobbling off in the 80th minute due to injury.
Cameroon FA, FECAFOOT, issued a statement confirming Onana will miss the team’s next match against Libya on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 following the injury blow.
As of the time of filing this report, Andre Onana has flown back to Carrington returning to Manchester United.
Manchester United are yet to assess the seriousness of the injury but sources close to the club have revealed it is not looking good for the 27-year-old as he could miss weeks of action on the sidelines.
The report adds Manchester United are hopeful of having Andre Onana back to action as soon as possible but may likely be forced to fall back on his £4.3m backup signing from Fenerbahce Altay Bayindir if the Cameroonian tarries on full recovery.
Altay Bayindir is yet to taste Premier League action with Manchester United since joining the club from Fenerbahce in the summer.
He is now the next in line to mann the sticks for Manchester United ahead of Tom Heaton.
Erik ten Hag was previously reluctance to hand Bayindir his first Premier League start with the Dutch planning to have David de Gea return on a short-term contract.
However, it is less likely de Gea will accept a short term offer to return to Old Trafford hence ten Hag is now considering handing Bayindir a chance should Onana fail to recover in time.
Since joining the club from Inter Milan, Andre Onana has started 18 matches for Manchester United in all competitions, keeping only 4 clean sheets.
